Organizational Referral

Dear Dr. Kliger,

While driving to your office, a myriad of thoughts crossed my mind. What kind of process was this going to be? What things will be required for me to do? Is this process really going to help me? If so, how? Do I jeopardize my career if I do not do this process? Obviously, at that time I did not have any answers for these questions. I took this process as an opportunity to learn more about myself and the human relations with my team, my peers and my superiors along with everything surrounding the day-to-day activities at work.

Today, after 5 months through the Individualized Leadership Training process, I can say with all honesty that I am so glad I was given this opportunity! I have been able to improve my sense of awareness with respect to human relations. This process proved to me that it is extremely important to cultivate the interpersonal relationships, this way people get to know you better and understand the reasons behind your actions: "The more people know you as a person the less risk exists that people will perceive you different from how you really are." This was the first and most valuable lesson I've learned from you. After applying your suggestions on how to deal with it, I could sense the improvement almost immediately.

Besides developing my sense of awareness, this process helped me to focus on the development of my direct reports.

Learning the different techniques that you gave has allowed me to "read between the lines" when interacting with people, therefore increasing my sense of empathy and avoiding misunderstandings that may lead to misinterpretation of the real facts. As you know, I learned and applied each and every one of these techniques as you requested, and the only thing I can say is that they really work! I have been receiving positive feedback from different levels of the organization, from my peers to my team and from my boss to my family.

Lastly, I want to express my sincere gratitude to you for all the effort and dedication put forth to guide me through this process and the excellent lessons you shared with me. I definitely feel that I am a much better person than before, and that my relationships at work and at home are at much higher levels thanks to you! Rest assured that I have become a firm believer of this process, and that I will continue to apply and expand on what I have learned.
